Guardsmen are the elite forces of the regular human infantry. Guardsmen are equipped with spears, so they are pretty much like pikemen, but simply trained better. Their extensive training gives them some basic battle experience, although it is not enough to call them veterans. However it is good enough to ensure they never break their spears. This is a common mistake many inexperienced soldiers become a victim of. 

Guardsmen are produced in castles like pikemen, but require a special training ground to be built for the proper training.
