Archer
Archer is a soldier of the regular army of Men.

Archers are a must have in almost every stack to support the first line of troops. Arrows as spears inflict penetrative damage, meaning that they are much less effective against armor. However they are very effective against light or damaged heavy armor as they have a chance to inflict critical damage when they hit an unprotected body part. Note that arrows are not infinite except when fighting in castles. After each battle archers try to collect some of the arrows shot during it, but about half of them can not be usually reclaimed. Arrows are automatically replenished when visiting a castle or repairing from a supply wagon.

Archers have light armor and do not have a shield and any other melee weapon other than knife, so when enemy reaches archers the battle is usually lost. If archers run out of arrows during battle they switch weapon anyway and try to help melee units. 

The path of an archer is the path of a ranger. Archers can hide in the woods making them great match for militia for secretly patrolling borders or sneaking behind enemy lines. With time archers learn to make arrows, disarm traps, cross shallow rivers, scout enemy armies and much more. Veteran archers such as mercenaries can feel a hidden danger nearby and can even search for sources of hostile energy. On top of that they shoot more often and have a higher chance to inflict critical damage which is very effective against unarmored units such as trolls and gargoyles.
